✈️ What to Know About Summer Education Abroad 2026 🌍

Thinking about education abroad this summer? Here’s everything you need to know to plan your adventure!


✅ Who is Eligible?

  • ✅ Have completed at least one full year of college courses
  • ✅ Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and be in good academic standing
  • ✅ Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student in the spring before travel

⚠️ Some programs require a higher GPA—always check the specific program details!


💰 How Summer Aid Works

Good news—financial aid may be available!

  • No extra forms required as long as your 2025–2026 FAFSA and checklists are complete 🎉
  • Aid is based on demonstrated need and your specific program
  • We meet full demonstrated need. Estimates can be provided once Ed Abroad budgets are set.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours to qualify for federal and state funds

🎓 Scholarships

Scholarship opportunities are out there—don’t miss them!

  • Emory and external scholarships available
  • Search sites like Niche or look for country/program-specific scholarships
  • Deadlines are typically early January, so apply soon!
  • Employee Courtesy Scholarship based on your fall/spring  percentage eligiblity
  • HOPE, Zell Miller, and Pell Grants may apply in the summer
  • Pell Grant recipients → May be eligible for the Gilman Scholarship (due early March)

💵 Other Financing Options

    • After receiving your aid package, you can email your financial aid advisor to request remaining loan funds

📅 Important Deadlines

  • Applications open: Mid-December on abroad.emory.edu
  • Final application deadline: Most are mid-February (some are earlier—check your specific program to be sure)
  • Emory Scholars: Contact the Scholars Office to discuss summer aid eligibility
